• テクノロジー企業の創業から隆盛・衰退・変革と時代の変化への対応を理解する。
• ビジネス展開とファイナンシャル構造を、IBMと日本企業とで比較検討し、日本とグローバル社会の違いを理解する。
• ビジネスマネジメントの基礎的な知識と要点を理解する。
• これらを通じて、アントレプレナーシップがいかなるものかを知り、自ら新しいビジネスを興すことへの興味を喚起させる。

Through understanding the history of business transformation of a global company IBM and the changes in the society and the business environment surrounding it:
• Understand the history of a technology company, from its founding to prosperity, decline, and transformation to adopt to changes of society.
• Understand the difference of doing business between Japan and global company by comparing business model and financial structure of IBM and a Japanese company.
• Understand the basic knowledge and key points of business management.
• Throughout these, learn entrepreneurial spirit and have an interest in business start-up.

講師自身のIBMでの32年間の実務体験に基づき、IBMという企業の変遷の歴史を解説する。その中で、実際に起こった事実とその背景にある理由を紐解くことにより、新しく事業を始めること、事業の持続と発展、時代に沿った変革の重要性、これらへの気づきと理解を高める話題を提供する。授業の端々に、ビジネスマネジメントの基礎となる用語や概念の解説を織り込み、さらに起業への興味を喚起する話題を提供して、アントレプレナーシップの意識醸成と基礎知識の修得を促す。
授業スケジュール：
第1週 IBMの創業から隆盛期
第2週 経営破綻の淵からの生還
第3週 日本におけるIBM事業展開の隆盛から衰退
第4週 IBMとトヨタのファイナンシャル・レポートの比較分析
第5週 IBMのグローバル経営と研究開発ビジネス戦略
第6週 IP(知的財産)ビジネス開発
第7週 マーケティングと契約・交渉
第8週 シリコンバレー/グローバル社会から見る日本

Based on the lecturer's 32 years work experience at IBM, the history of transformation of IBM, a global company, is explained. Throughout them, understand importance of starting new business, sustain and growth along social change by understanding the facts actually occurred and the reasons behind it. A number of topics and cases that will help raise awareness and understanding are provided to students.

Week 3: From IBM's business prosperity to decline in Japan
Week 4: Comparative analysis of IBM and Toyota's financial report
